INTERMEDIATE COURSE
In the Intermediate Course you will tackle the same subjects nude, still life, landscape, cityscape and portrait – only this time you will paint entirely from life and emulate the approaches of famous painters: this will serve as an “apprenticeship” in comprehending the processes they used to solve problems and the technique that identified them as Masters. Completing the Intermediate Course will exponentially increase your own unique method of self – expression as a painter.
ADVANCED COURSE
By the time you attend the Advanced Course you will have a lot of what you need to launch you in a career, either as a serious hobbyist or as a professional. However, until we understand the approach by the Renaissance and Baroque artisans, we cannot adequately comprehend the roots of our craft. Studying the classics is how we cement our knowledge.

In the Advanced Course you will apply all you have learned to embark on the method utilized by painters for hundreds of years prior to the Impressionist era. Using the ‘old school’ methodology you will begin 5 paintings (again in the same 5 subject matters explored in the Foundation and Intermediate Courses) and over the proceeding weeks apply multiple glazes of colour to create works of profound depth and substance.

Whether you ultimately paint in this style is immaterial, what you will learn via this course will complete your immersion in the essentials of painting and fully qualify any style you choose to adopt.

HOMEWORK
All students will be assigned homework projects that will demand 5 – 10 hours of their time per week. These assignments will include colour/tonal studies, brush exercises, composition, perspective etc. Students can either do these at home or subscribe to a discounted membership for studio time at Attic Studios to complete their assignments.

These homework assignments will prepare students for the Intermediate Course. After completion of all three seminars (Foundation, Inter-mediate and Advanced) each student should have a solid core of techniques and an understanding on how to proceed with their desired approach.
