‘Oil Technique Course’ for Adults

Enjoy the many different aspects of oil painting & really learn the techniques…

The wipe off method, Drybrush, Palette Knife Painting, Impasto, Scumbling and more!

The first 30 minutes of every day will be a demonstration by Elsie.

This course is for complete beginners!! … as well as for more experienced painters and is designed to take you through each technique, step by step.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday morning, from 10 – 1pm, starting on 24th August.

Cost: 2,200 baht per lesson*  (including all materials, oil and canvas)

* Minimum requirement of lessons to cover all the above techniques would be 10 lessons.

Artists’ ROAD TRIP with Elsie… to the Ancient City!

Our very first Attic Studios ‘Sketchers Day out’ with Elsie! Leaving from the Studio at 8am on Sunday 15th August, Elsie will drive you there in her land cruiser! Come join her & enjoy a day of pottering round the grounds of the Ancient City, drawing on the inspiration as it finds you!  This trip is free, just bring yourself, a hat, plenty of sunscreen, a packed lunch if you want to…. and oh of course, some drawing materials and your sketchbook! P.S If you don’t have your own equipment, we are happy to supply you with everything you’ll need. (Cost 500 baht) Max. places – 7

Exclusive Course: “Discover Sculpture with Gavin Fifield.”

Back by popular demand, this course will commence on Thursday 2nd September and run every Thursday morning from 10-1pm, for the duration of 6 weeks.

Gavin Fifield is a master sculptor whose works show both architectural strength and psychological depth. His work integrates his artistic composition with both truth and aesthetic harmony.

Receiving commissions in almost every media, from life sized bronzes to miniature houses, Gavin specializes in helping other artists develop and bring their work into being.

Gavin is now sharing his skills and knowledge and we are offering places on this exclusive workshop course.

2 Sundays – “Abstract Expressionism Painting Course with Alan Scott-Moncrieff”

Tap into your “inner child” and make the most of your “raw” ideas by expressing them in abstraction, on large canvases in oil paint.

Alan Scott-Moncrieff takes an “out of the ordinary” approach to help you get into and understand, via paint, your own natural sense of composition, bringing out skills to create art. The process is invigorating and a lot of fun. You will be surprised at what  you will achieve.

Alan’s 2 day course will give you skills to produce dynamic paintings strong in design and content.

This course is open to painters of all ages and abilities.

This 2-day course will run over 2 Sundays, Sunday 17th October & Sunday, 24th October, from 10 am – 4pm with 30 mins for lunch (provided)

Cost: 10,000 baht per student (materials extra) and each day will end with wine and a summary/critique of your work.

1 Week Course – “Impasto Painting Course with Alan Scott-Moncrieff”

This 5 day course will run from Monday 18th – Friday 22nd October, from 10am – 4pm with 30 mins for lunch (provided)

With Alan’s inspirational guidance, you will be shown how to embark in the processes from selecting a palette of colours, under-painting, composition, brush techniques, highlights, accents and tips on painting completion which will serve you well as a great ‘apprenticeship’ in understanding the processes used by the Old Masters.

Monday – Nude (from life, female model provided)

Tuesday – Still Life (flowers, fruit, luxurious cloths, fish and other market items)

Wednesday  – Landscape including instruction on painting water (from photographs of various settings globally)

Thursday – Cityscape (from photographs of Bangkok – photos provided)

Friday – Portrait (from live model)
