International Attic Studios

armando

Armando, strange man in studio doesn’t speak English???

Attic Studios is really becoming a hub of international artists.

We have people dropping in from all over the planet.  Currently we have Armando visiting from Spain.  He is a phenomenal artist,  a master of charcoal and pastels.  Armando has joined us for a few Life Drawing sessions Thursday nights and blown us away.

Nobody speaks enough Spanish to understand him, so we have no idea why he’s here or what he wants to do.

If you think you can communicate with this Spaniard please come in and help us out.

A Brush with Nature….

P1030490P1030479

A fabulous time was had by all.

Those that took the day off the city and immersed themselves in the serenity of the best kept secret in Thailand.  Celebrated Thai artist Khun wichien Wonsupalek has opened his private home and studio to art students from Attic Studios.  This day trip works so well that Attic Studios will continue to run groups out to do workshops in Nonthaburi  just on the outskirts of town. Both serious artists and the complete novice are welcome.  Even if it is, just to try something different.  Email for more information:  info@attic-studios.com or call Elsie.

Is anyone out there?

I have long wondered if anyone reads our blog.
If you do, what would you like to see on it…..links to demonstrations online. art book reviews. painting and drawing tips. news about what is happening at attic. I could even post some lesson plans for those of you who only have spare time at night.???? Please let me know what you think. email direct to me. elsievans@gmail.com
If I get no response I will know no one looks at it and therefore be able to spend more time painting myself.

you tube art demos

If you are a fan of painting demos on You Tube, and as far as I am concerned everyone should be. If it is a good demo you are inspired and if its a bad one you realise you are not as bad as you thought you were, have a look at daily painting demos. they are brilliant.

Attic Studios Extensive Library

There are some interesting books in the studio just now. In fact they have been there for ages i just never noticed.

How about……

Paintings that Every Child Should Know

This one is interesting not for what is in it but for what isn”t. There is not a Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, or Warhol to be seen. probably because it was published in 1927.

Monet, in 1927 had been dead for a year.

Warhol was still a twinkle in his father’s eye.

Summer Art Students Exhibition!

It’s a well known fact that what seperates humans from animals, is the ability to take an abstract notion and redefine it. Each individual will interperate it in a different way.

Children have an amazing ability to absorb these abstract concepts and recreate or express their experiences. This Summer we at Attic Studios experienced this first hand. The Summer Children’s Workshop students have produced some fantastic artwork and we are so proud of them.

We are so blown away by the quality of their work we are having an exhibition here at the studio gallery from now until 2nd September.

First Friday’s is almost HERE!

Attic Studios is delighted to present Daksayani’s Debut Solo Art Exhibition on June 3rd, 2011… aka OUR NEXT First Friday, yeah!

This exhibition is a multi-medium set of works entitled “Jumping Off!”

First Friday Invite #19 A4 FOR EDITING

This will be the first and only opportunity for the public to view Daksayani’s controversial, poignant and thought provoking works.

Daksayani is an Irish expat residing in Thailand with her son. An art graduate from the U.K and a passionate teacher, Daksayani was a creative, vibrant spirit until being held captive in a five-year cruelly, abusive relationship.

Attic Visits Camillian Home for Children

On Friday 18th February, members of Attic Studios piled into Elsie’s car and headed out past the airport to The Camillian Home for Children Living with Disabilities.

The day was spent helping to create colourful pieces of art to brighten various walls within the home. Attic hopes to organise  more outings like this, so anyone interested in volunteering to do a little good, watch this space.
