20th & 27th June: 2  Sunday workshops on Abstract Expressionism with Alan Scott Moncrieff. Everyone who participates will take home at least one finished painting.  Suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike.

Life Drawing – every Thursday evening from 6 to 9pm

While I’m away, the studio will be running as usual, including all the kids workshops. Elsie will be here, as will Heidi. Heidi is a relatively new addition to the Attic family and will be taking over my responsibilities while I’m gone. Don’t worry, Heidi, you’ll be fine. It’s not like I do much in the studio anyway…shhh…

Tap into your “inner child” and make the most of your “raw” ideas by expressing them in abstraction, on large canvases in oil paint.

Alan Scott-Moncrieff takes an “out of the ordinary” approach to help you get into and understand, via paint, your own natural sense of composition, bringing out skills to create art.  The process is invigorating and a lot of fun. You will be surprised at what you will achieve.

Alan’s courses will give you skills to produce dynamic paintings strong in design and content.

Look at the proportions,

Look at your model.

Feet are tricky.

What happened to her weight line?

If she wasn’t leaning on that pillar

She would fall over…….

Think of the spine

Neck to navel is about

Twice the length of

Navel to pubis.

Step back.

Take a look at your picture.

Is the head the right size?

Are  the proportions right?

Your standing model is

now sitting down.

8 heads stacked

Now 4 heads on top.

2 heads hips to knees.

2 heads knees to feet.

Look at the angles.

Heidi was the live model all day for the 10-15 year old  students ….Stand up sit down… Lala was astonishing…She just kept them going with loads of interesting stuff. It started off as an anatomy lesson…..…. at the end of the 3 hour session, students not only  had about 12 drawings of Heidi  standing, sitting,and supine, but in the review of work done everyone saw how they’d progressed……Heidi on the otherhand felt rather drawn !!!

Friday night… it’s the cheap wine from the Wine Loft… 3 bottles… and the talk is about throwing out the mistakes and working on the things you learn from the mistakes.

The best thing about attic studios is that one gets to create, to loud music if you want it.  Tonights selection…. beautiful fluffy clouds, 7 seconds away  from birth, songs that make you dance and  feel, songs that inspire you to paint

Overcast on Soi 31 at the moment, so the boys in orange jump suits are kicking back in the truck, they’ve got the doors open… but even so it’s 40 degrees out there

Last week when the crowds were converging on The PM’s house,   Our firemen were definitely on standby on the roof of the truck along with the press with cameras and videos …after the big hoo-hah had thinned out we noticed a chap waving his hands at the firemen…….orange fireman opens up fire truck stop cock so he could wash his hands…. sweet.
