We’ve got Soul Sister…

Well Jazz actually….. in the name of great art and JOY!

Joy Voeth is an exuberant world-class vocalist with a soulful and sophisticated sound who joined Elsie’s ‘Beginner’s Oil Painting‘ class this morning for the first time.

Another creative step for artist womankind :)

As seen here….

Joy embodies her name –  in a mélange of rhythms, sounds, ideas, and energies, exuberantly expressed through one being who delights in creating spontaneous beauty AND we’d say the same about her first painting @ Attic!

Always on the move around the world Joy is currently HERE in Bangkok singing !!!!

Jaab What?

product_thumb.php9 product_thumb.php2

Jaab Cards darling! That’s what!

We are now selling Jaab Cards at the studio. The Jaab Design Company, founded by Judith Saengprathum,  produces beautifully handmade greeting cards for all occasions.

Part of the sales proceeds are donated to a breast cancer outreach project that helps underprivileged women in Thailand.

9 to 16!

Oil by Hally Hally

In the aftermath of our floral extravaganza, Attic was left with a whole lot of flowers. Needless to say, being an art studio and all,  we put them to good use. All of these paintings are done by kids from 9 to 16. Pretty impressive if I do say so myself.

Goodness gracious we have a bunch of talented munchkins in here!

Life on Sunday?

DSC09811

Yesterday, Attic held a special FREE life drawing class in the studio to celebrate the beginning of our new life Drawing season. The turn out was phenomenal, with the downstairs studio bursting at the seams. 12 people showed up to enjoy the teachings of Welsh artist Nigel Price, and his charcoal drawing techniques.

Participants varied in age and professions, including University students, magazine writers, a tennis coach and a professional cartoonist.

It was certainly a change from the usual Sunday energy.

Life Drawing IS BACK!

DSC09750

After a brief hiatus for the summer, Life Drawing is back in action! (Thank goodness for that. I’m out of practice myself.)

Kicking off our life drawing week on Wednesday was our brand new Figurative Workshop with Lisa Bergan. Students didn’t just draw a conventional figure using conventional methods, they expressed themselves with a variety of line and media and produced some amazing pieces. I was well impressed!

At some point during the day, one of our students mentioned that they had, and I quote:

“Never drawn one of THOSE before”……

Day of Rest…or not.

Wondering what to do on a Sunday besides lie around watching too much bad T.V. and eating too much greasy food?

Attic is open every Sunday for those interested in instruction and for those who just want to paint on their own. It’s a relaxing day of the week to pop over and enjoy some quiet creativity. Especially for those of you who work every other day of the week.

Ancient City Road Trip

Yesterday, Sunday 15th August, Elsie took a couple of people out to the Ancient City (Muang Boran) for an art-day-out and a chance to paint and draw some beautiful scenery.

DSC09593

Elizabeth (the newly retired head of art from the International School of the Regents) and Amy (Found Attic online) met Elsie at the studio at 8am Sunday morning, gathered the necessary materials and piled into her car to head off to the Ancient City, about an hours drive from Bangkok.

Driving around the park, Amy and Elizabeth’s mouths were hanging open from the view. They stopped to paint at a Sala with a gorgeous view of a lake, reflecting a collection of Chedis.
