Just a couple of doors down from Attic Studio are our lovely neighbours, the Cassia Gallery…. and this coming Saturday evening they will be opening a new exhibition called “Quick Draw” featuring the sketchbook works of the wonderfully talented artist & fellow supporter of Elsie’s work, Asnee Tasna… so please feel free to pop along, share your support and check it out.

”Quick Draw” is a <a href="http://www.attic-studios.com/impasto-painting"title="painting classes bangkok" >painting and sketchbook exhibition and is Asnee’s first solo show. The exhibition will comprise of 30 watercolour paintings and sketches of picturesque Yunnan and Bhutan, as well as various scenes of bustling Bangkok such as Tha Tian market and Chinatown.

Some of the paintings are an expanded experience of his travel sketchbook, done on the move, while many are simply ”inspiration hangovers” made after trips. All of the works reflect the locations’ environmental nuances, with the use of simple tools, minimal time, great fun and lots of sweat, especially those of Bangkok!

‘Quick Draw’ will open on June 12, from 6pm – 9pm, and will run until June 20, from 10am to 9pm.

The Neilson Hays Library brought back its Arts Festival this year and <a href="http://www.attic-studios.com"title="art classes thailand" >Attic Studios decided to head down there and make it’s presence known. On the weekend of Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November, the Library grounds were packed full of artists and their creations, from ceramic pots, to copper sculptures, to intricate jewelry, to photography and <a href="http://www.attic-studios.com/impasto-painting"title="painting classes bangkok" >paintings of all styles.

In our booth we showcased the paintings and drawings of Attic students, while having painting demonstrations by students, held throughout the two days. There was also an opportunity for interested kids and <a href="http://www.attic-studios.com/adult-workshops"title="adult art classes bangkok" >adults passing by to try their hand at painting one if the still lives we had set up.

It was a great weekend out in the sun (and brief torrential downpour on Saturday) with plenty to look at and take part in.

Thank you to all the students who painted and helped make the festival a blinding success for Attic Studios! xo

Allo Allo! I apologise for the long absence. The studio has been rather hectic recently. Last week, the advanced installation of Alan Scott-Moncrieff’s course saw <a href="http://www.attic-studios.com/art-supplies"title="art supplies bangkok" >canvases spread out all over the floor of the studio and students on their knees frantically applying layers of tinted glaze to numerous <a href="http://www.attic-studios.com/impasto-painting"title="painting classes bangkok" >paintings. A new experience for all. As a few of the partakers will tell you, it starts to become rather addictive and you end up walking around trying to find anything else you could possibly glaze.

Monday, 1st of June marked the opening reception of the Silver Fish and Turpentine exhibition showing off the collected works born of Alan’s entire 3-stage course. Tapas Cafe was jam packed full of artists, relatives and interested parties scoffing down the delicious food and free-flowing Sangria, while perusing the paintings covering the walls both upstairs and down.

It was wonderful to see the culmination of all the students’ hard work on display, showing off the progress and passion they have made and found, over the last few months.

The works will be on display at Tapas until the 21st June and are all available for purchase (unless of course they have already been sold).

In closing I will leave you with some pics of the party…enjoy (fortunately, no one got so sloshed that they started dancing on the tables, semi-nude…always a bonus).

As many of you already know, Elsie has been absent from Attic for the last 10 days. If you haven’t been in, then you may not realise that Elsie jetted off to Nepal two weekends ago to get some well-deserved inspirational rejuvination.

The day she got there she informed me that electricity went out at 8pm at night and candlelit discos are the thing to do. Can you imagine Elsie in the pitch black at 8 in the evening? I can’t. In fact, it makes me laugh everytime I think about it. ;o) Sorry Elsie!

Hehehehehehe…..

Without Lady Evans in the midst of things, the studio can seem a little empty. The good news, however, is that she’ll be back tomorrow in one of two moods…either all awash with energy and fresh air pumping through her veins or pissed off that she had to spend 10 days in the dark. Lol.

Exciting news: We will be holding a student exhibition at Tapas Cafe, Sukhumvit Soi 11, from the 1st June – 21st June. (Watch this space for more details).
