Just to let you know that due to the Songkran Holidays Attic will be closed from the end of today, Saturday 9th April through to Monday 18th.
We will be back from 10am on Tuesday 19th April.
Have LOADS OF FUN and wishing you all a lovely holiday break.
We look forward to seeing you all again on the other side
Today, for our ‘life drawing’ lesson we had the pleasure of this lovely Thai Traditional dancer’s company (scouted out and sourced by Gavin Fifield, our resident sculptor) who found her in his local Thai restaurant so big thanks to Mr. G.
And today’s students LOVED her!
And here’s why…..
Of course, we all struggled with the hands a little bit but never MIND.
Here are some “in action/with results!” photos…
Last Thursday artist Elsie Evans, along with budding artists experienced Anatara Bangkok Sathorn hotel’s for their FIRST ‘Art Attack’ session by the hotel’s pool area.
Elsie’s victims were journalists who as part of an introduction to the new Anantara Hotel were invited to join Elsie’s creative thinking workshop.
As you can see, it WORKED!
The paintings were all wonderfully creative and everyone had a great time:)
Dear Students & Friends of Attic,
You will have heard various things about the future of Attic Studios in the last few weeks.
I just wanted to let you know that Attic is not closing but it will move!
I am negotiating with a couple of land lords at the moment and will let you know as soon as something is finalised.
We have enjoyed your friendship and support over the last 5 years and look forward to many more years.
Looking forwarding to seeing you at First Friday this Friday.
Elsie
draw ‘Plein Air’ directly outside the studio today….lovely change from the heat and great job girls!
….VERY very good!
Here’s what she has to say on the subject of her art & her great ART success story….
“In September 2010 I moved to Bangkok hoping to be able to put together a portfolio of artwork to apply for a Masters course in Forensic Art. As soon as I arrived I began searching for a studio that would provide me with the support that I needed, having never formally studied drawing despite having a degree in Fine Art! Unlike most studios in Bangkok, Attic constantly provides life classes with a number of male and female models and, with a number of different teachers providing a range of approaches to drawing, I soon found myself well challenged. Initially, I struggled with my own barriers, but with constant encouragement from the teachers, including Elsie Evans the owner of Attic, I was soon able to relax, enjoy and create the work needed for my portfolio.”

and add flowers?!
It’s so grey outside today that we decided to ship in some more of Elsie’s favourite flowers to brighten up the studio.
And Elsie’s ON IT!
Look what Elsie painted yesterday…we’re loving it!
Watch this space, aka the MUSIC/FLOWER ZONE for more works of inspiration from Elsie & see her Facebook page ‘Elsie Evans Daily Paintings’ for more info.
To buy here in Bangkok?!
What’s harder to find than chicken’s teeth?! …. knowing if you do find the odd stick or 2, it’ll cost you the earth!?
