Elsie has flown the coop. She’s in the U.K. at the moment attending her son’s graduation. She will be back in 10 days, family in tow. We missed her on First Friday. It just wasn’t the same. But the Attic gang held it together, be it with sticky tape and blue tac.

The student’s work was an absolute hit. All our guests were well impressed. Congrats to all our talented artists! Check out the photos on our facebook album.

Many of our summer students have left on their holidays and many more will be back or just starting, for the new week, beginning tomorrow. We look forward to seeing some fresh new work. It has been a brilliantly  inspired summer so far.

I do believe that on Tuesday we have the Broom seller guy in for our ‘Bangkok Life’ Session. Hopefully we’ll be able to fit his broom laden cart in the door. Fingers crossed…

The workshop will involve traditional life drawing using a ‘life figure’ to help you spring board your ideas and develop your own creative abstract concepts.

Through Lisa’s guided tuition, you will learn to to create your own individualized work and explore different ideas to build up both realistic and abstract styled finished works.

You will use a mixture of mediums – starting with basic charcoal drawings, through mixed media and onto your own painting.

Price: 4,000 baht, including canvas (120 x 100 cm)

”Quick Draw” is a painting and sketchbook exhibition and is Asnee’s first solo show. The exhibition will  comprise of 30 watercolour paintings and sketches of picturesque Yunnan and Bhutan, as well as various scenes of bustling Bangkok such as Tha Tian market and Chinatown.

Some of the paintings are an expanded experience of his travel sketchbook, done on the move, while many are simply ”inspiration hangovers” made after trips. All of the works reflect the locations’ environmental nuances, with the use of simple tools, minimal time, great fun and lots of sweat, especially those of Bangkok!

‘Quick Draw’ will open on June 12, from 6pm – 9pm, and will run until June 20, from 10am to 9pm. Cassia Gallery is located on the top floor of a cafe at 20 Sukhumvit Soi 31, BTS Phrom Phong. Parking is available. For more information, email asnee.t@gmail.com or visit www.zketch.blogspot.com.
