What are people saying about Attic?

Roger Chan: ***** “A great place for both kids and adults …artist and non-artist. Both my kid and I missed Attic studio a lot (we have moved from Bangkok to Shanghai). We visited the studio again during a recent vacation. Both Elsie and Kat are still full of passion extracting the artistic side of everyone in their classes.”

Jenni Jones: ***** “Attic Studios is a great place for all, Elsie will bring out the inner artist in anyone!”

Sculpture Workshop

Students started with building the human skull to understand it’s bone structure and how it dictates the shape of our heads and faces. After completing the skull, they began to add muscle in order to create features.

First Friday #3

First Friday at Attic Studios has officially become the event of the month in Bangkok. People were spilling out onto the street!

Spanish on 4 by Tapas catered the event with delicious finger foods, while guests enjoyed live flamenco music from duo Benjamin and Jacopo as “Danca das Cabacas”. Upstairs was a hive of activity with all who were willing trying their hand at some life drawing of a nude model. Downstairs, Gavin Gough’s beautiful photographs lit up the room with their vibrant colours and pensive moods.

Cast Drawings and Paintings

A couple of weeks ago Elsie went on a head hunt and came back with two plaster cast heads…

Cast Head

Casts are a wonderful tool for drawing the human form and practicing the essential principles of shading and tonal value. It is a practice that has been used to teach drawing and painting since the 19th century, which focuses on mastering realism.

Drawing from the cast enables beginners to analyse shape and proportion, and to render the effects of light and shade without the complication of colour. It encourages a methodical approach from the start, and remains the best way to learn the ‘language’ of seeing.
